Our Drive Log app makes it easy to keep track of supervised practice hours and watch lesson videos from our instructors. Add it to your phone’s home screen and it opens just like a regular app, with no app store needed.

Washington requires teens to complete 50 hours of supervised driving, including 10 at night, before they can get their license. A parent or guardian signs off on those hours, so keeping an accurate log from the very first drive saves a lot of guesswork later.

How to Add the Drive Log to Your Phone

In Safari, the buttons you need are in the bar at the bottom of the screen.

iPhone

Use the Safari browser. It takes about 30 seconds.

Open Safari and go to hours.southsounddriving.com.
Tap the Share button . On newer iPhones you may need to tap the three dots in the bottom corner first, then tap Share.
Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen . If you don't see it, tap More or Edit Actions at the bottom of the list.
If you see Open as Web App, make sure it is turned on . Then tap Add in the top right corner.
Find the Drive Log icon on your home screen and tap it to open the app.

Using Chrome on your iPhone? Tap the Share button at the top right of the address bar, then tap Add to Home Screen.

In Chrome, the menu is the three dots at the top right of the screen.

Android

Use the Chrome browser. It takes about 30 seconds.

Open Chrome and go to hours.southsounddriving.com.
If a pop-up at the bottom asks to Install or Add Drive Log to Home screen, tap it, then tap Install and skip to step 5.
Otherwise, tap the three dots in the top right corner.
Tap Add to home screen (some phones say Install app), then tap Install.
Find the Drive Log icon on your home screen or in your app drawer and tap it to open the app.

Using a Samsung phone with Samsung Internet? Tap the menu at the bottom right, tap Add page to, then tap Home screen.

Getting Started

Open the Drive Log from the icon on your home screen.
Create your account the first time you open it. Use an email address you check, since that is how you will sign back in.
Add each practice drive right after you finish, while the details are fresh.
Check your progress anytime to see how many hours you have left.

Common Questions

Do I need to download anything from the App Store or Google Play?

No. The Drive Log is a web app, so it runs in your phone’s browser. Adding it to your home screen gives you an icon that opens it just like an app.

Can I use it on a computer too?

Yes. Go to hours.southsounddriving.com in any browser and sign in with the same account.

I deleted the icon. Did I lose my hours?

No. Your hours are saved to your account, not to the icon. Follow the steps above to add it again, then sign in.

I don’t see Add to Home Screen. What should I do?

Make sure the page is open in Safari on an iPhone or Chrome on an Android, not inside another app like Instagram, Gmail or a text message preview. If it opened inside another app, look for an option to open it in your browser first.
